Making mistakes is an okay process
If we knew they were mistakes - we wouldn't be doing them in the first place. If anything, they give us more insight into our own retrospective nature rather than serve as a way of building self-hate and self-contempt, in my opinion.
Notice here how the emphasis here is the mental well being of a person, and to what degree they perceive their actions. The more and more we make people scared of making mistakes, the more we drive them into making the same mistakes over and over again, ironically, pushing them to the point of never recovering from guilt, and thus limiting them into how they can be a better person later on in their lives.
